Description
In the third and final turning of the wheel of Dharma, Sakyamuni Buddha gave the teachings on the qualities of sambodhi (perfect and complete awakening) that already permeates our being as sugata-garbha or tathagata-garbha (The essence of Enlightenment, usually translated as the Buddha Nature). This is the true nature of our mind, the self-arisen awareness that is not stained or defiled by the cloud-like defilements that obstructs its vivid appearance. Just as the gold which is already present in the gold-mine manifests with all its qualities on refinement, Buddhahood with all its qualities already present in us manifests on the removal of obscurations. Sakyamuni Buddha's teaching on the Sugata-Essence is further explained by Lord Maitreya in Uttaratantra-sastra. Lopon Chogyal Wangdi will be basing his teaching on this text. There will also be a short meditation session along with the teaching.
